I hear it all the time from people. My rent is too high, I pay too much in taxes, I can’t get a job, I can’t catch a break. The funny things is that many of these complaints that I hear and recieve are from people that walk into my liquor business wanting a JOB. (Just over Broke) I get two to three people per week that roll through my door wanting a job. Ninety percent of the time, they don’t make eye contact, are sloppy, don’t have a resume and have reached a point of desperation. Not only is their rent too high, but to them everything is too high and everything wrong in their lives is someone else’s fault.

Now I have empathy for these people on some level, but you have to pick yourself up by your bootstraps despite your condition or state and soldier on. No one is going to do it for you. Instead of complaining about the rent being too high, get off your keyster and make more money. Or buy the building. Or become the landlord that recieves the rent. God equipped us with the ability to make a life for ourselves without depending on anyone else.

It is amazing how often I get hit by spammers that don’t know me. They spam me on twitter and facebook and more often than not through email. The crazy part is that they think that because they love their product, I’m going to be blown away by it as well. Sorry, I’m not. I’ve seen too many snake oil salesmen and infomercials to know that what you are selling is NOT “ground floor” and NOT “earth shattering” and NOT going to make me rich overnight.

They persist however, in trying to pitch me what they perceive as the thing that’s going to make them rich and me happy.

I can empathize with them on some levels, but the bottom line is that if I don’t know them, they aren’t getting a minute of my time. I can’t find any value from someone that I’ve never met, even on a topical level, that is trying to get me to bite on something I know nothing about from someone I care nothing about. If you are going to grow a business, start by getting to know the person first, then you can promote your business when the time is right.
